Masters of Marriage and Family Therapist
As a motivated and passionate young therapist, I focus my work on assisting youth, adolescents, young adults, and adults through methods of individual, family, and couples counseling. I am obtaining licensure in the state of Georgia. I have been practicing in the field of Marriage and Family Therapy since 2014 and have served the community by providing direct clinical services to youth, adolescents, young adults, and adults. I graduated from Mercer degree University with a Bachelor’s of Science in Psychology and Women and Gender Studies, with a minor in Sociology and Criminal Justice. I then went on to obtain my Master’s in Marriage and Family Therapy from Mercer University’s School of Medicine where I focused on helping children, adolescents, and young adults with behavioral concerns, sexual and gender identity concerns, and Medical Family Therapy.
I began my career as a student intern at the Children’s hospital in Macon, Georgia while also working at Mercer’s Family Therapy Center. While working at the Children’s Hospital, I treated adolescents and teens that were dealing with behavioral concerns, anxiety, trauma, and issues surrounding sexual and gender identities.
While working with this population, I was able to build experience dealing with Oppositional Defiant Disorder, Attention Deficit Hyperactive Disorder, Anxiety, Depression, Conduct Disorder, Trauma, Adjustment Concerns, and Gender Dysphoria, to name a few.
I have gained experience working with children, adolescents, and adults as they dealt with situations surrounding trauma in outpatient settings. I am currently working towards multiple specialized certifications to increase my experience with couples counseling as well. In additional to my specializations surrounding adolescents and adults, I also have experience working with families as they adjust to different life experiences as they transition through different steps in life.
As a therapist in an ever changing environment, I have worked with individuals, couples, and families of all ages and demographics. I focus my work on helping the various individuals in the family with the healing process. My goal as a therapist is to created a safe space for everyone involved to open up as they heal and search for peace.
As a growing clinician, my primary job is to encourage, motivate, and support my client as they confront previous traumas and create independence and increase self-esteem. I create an environment that allows for these changes using such methods as Solution Focused Therapy, Structural Family Therapy, Person-Centered Therapy, and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy techniques.
